Claiming Rules & Key Concepts ▼
ℹ️ Providers must claim against the support line item specified in the participant's plan. Where none is specified, use the closest matching item. Claims must reflect the correct Unit of Measure (UOM).

Notional Unit Pricing

Many AT items have no price limit — instead they carry a "notional" unit price of $1.00. Claim by entering the dollar amount as the number of units.

530 units @ $1.00 = $530 claim

AT Supplementary Charge

When a product exceeds the NDIS price limit for that item, claim the balance using the relevant AT Supplementary Charge code in the same registration group.

Main item: $8,000 limit paid
Supplementary: 500 @ $1.00 = $500

Quotable Items

Items over ~$15,000 require a formal quote submitted through myplace Portal. A service booking is auto-generated once the NDIA approves the quote.

Quote accepted → Service Booking → Claim

Prepayments

Permitted for AT or HM items over $1,500 where a custom item requires upfront costs. Final 10% cannot be claimed until the participant receives the item.

Deposit → Progress → ≥10% on delivery

Delivery Codes

Delivery must be claimed as a secondary support — you must first claim the primary AT support item before lodging a delivery cost.

Claim AT item first → then claim Delivery

Subscriptions

Allowed for Cat 03 and Cat 05 supports. Max $5,000/yr standard; $10,000/yr for high-value AT bundles (>$15,000). Charged monthly; small subs (<$1,500/yr) may be annual.

No exit fees · 1 month cancellation notice
⚠️ GST note: Many NDIS supports are GST-free. Where GST applies, the price limit is inclusive of GST. Seek independent tax advice if unsure. See ATO website for NDIS GST guidance.
